Let's Make It shine! and another master class

Kianna's school held their annual holiday show on Thursday, December 18th. The kids met in the lobby and had fun together until the show started.
Each grade performed. This is the fourth grade. Kianna is on the bottom row, fourth from the right.

They performed three numbers "Mele Kalikimaka", "Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" and "Here Comes The Snow," It is always so much fun to see the growth in each grade.

Caeli stayed to watch her sister perform and then went to a master class at the dance studio.
Erica Sobol held an amazing class and then worked on cheoegraphy with the group all weekend. Caeli is so excited for this competition season to start.

Our 16th Annual Santa Party!

We held our annual Santa party on Saturday, December 13th.
We had used the same Santa for the last 10 years and we were upset when we could not locate him. We tried for weeks and finally had to locate someone new and hoped for the best.
Santa arrived and was amazing. He called each child up, posed for lots of pictures, talked to them and entertained everyone.
Caeli put on her reindeer costume from Halloween and entered with Santa. No one knew who she was.
When Santa called her name she took off the hood (she said it was so hot inside).
She helped hand out the rest of the gifts.

Dance Company Lock-in

On Saturday, December 6th the dance studio that the girls attend, held their annual company lock-in. Caeli had so much fun. They ate, danced, made ornaments, held a white elephant, and bonded. Finally at 3 am they crashed and went to sleep.
There were air mattresses all over the place, sleeping bags, pillows and girls! The owners watched over them and at 8 am blew a bull horn to wake them up!

Kiki and Cody

My friend, Kiki owns a horse and boards him in Scottsdale.  On Sunday morning we drove out to the stable and the girls got to meet him.
The girls each got to brush Cody and spend time with him.
 Then they walked him around.
The highlight was getting to ride on him. They loved every minute that they were on the horse.
No surprise, now they want to take lessons!

Thanksgiving 2014

Kianna was very happy to discover that her Elf on the Shelf returned Thanksgiving morning. Snowflake brought her a giant Olaf for our front yard. The girls had breakfast and helped me prepare dinner.
My dear friend, Kiki joined us for dinner. Pam had to go in to work early and missed dinner.
Kianna with our pumpkin pie. She is not a fan of sweets or deserts, but loves pumpkin pie.
Kiki brought the girls a kit to make balloon sculptures. They had fun making animals but ended up using swords. Later in the evening we ventured out to the mall and started Christmas shopping.

November Happenings

Wow, November has been a busy month and it just flew by. Here’s a glimpse of what we have been doing.
Caeli auditioned and joined the Encore Chorus at her school. They held their first concert on November 5th. They sang and danced and it was a very enjoyable evening.
Caeli, Kianna, and I took part in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on November 8th. It was a beautiful day and we walked three mile through downtown Phoenix in mom’s memory

I say walked, but Kianna danced, leaped and did cartwheels most of the way.
Caeli attended the November master class with Alexa Anderson on November 13th. She has danced with so many great teachers this year.
The girls had fun making their traditional apple pie for Thanksgiving. They are both becoming great cooks.
We continued our November tradition of building gingerbread houses.
The girls worked on them for a long time and each knew exactly how she wanted her house to look.
 I love the finished houses!

Halloween 2014

The girls carpool with the neighbor across the street. They love the movie "Frozen". Caeli dressed up in a reindeer costume as Sven.
 Kianna was Olaf
 Getting ready to leave.
"Sven, Anna, Olaf and Elsa"
They went Trick-or-treating in a large group from the neighborhood. They had a great time and got lots of candy.

Pumpkin Carving

Because it has been so warm in Phoenix, we waited until Thursday evening to carve pumpkins. The girls had decided what pattern they wanted to do and did the entire job by themselves.
I love how much fun they have doing everything. Kianna had done a math project at school and was given a second pumpkin. They had made a haunted house after school.
The finished pumpkins.
Kianna made the  bat and Caeli did the monster.

Dance Company Picnic

On Saturday, October 18th the annual dance company picnic was held at a local park.
Caeline attended with her group. Melissa is one of the owners.
 Caeli adores the little dancers.
Her best friend Kaila is in company this year.
They played games, ate lunch and had fun. Crazy teenagers!

Sophie's Birthday Party

The girls carpool with the family across the street three days a week.
Angela is so nice. She has two daughters younger than Kianna that attend school with her.
Makayla is the oldest. She is in 2nd grade and Sophie is in 1st.
The girls were invited to Sophie's 7th Birthday party at an ice skating rink. They had fun skating, eating pizza and making "Frozen" crafts.

Movie Night

Kianna's school holds a family movie night every October. We have attended 10 so far (the only one we missed was 2006 when we were in China). This year they showed Despicable Me 2. the kids join their friends, eat dinner and have so much fun!

8 years ago today!

I can not believe that it has been 8 years since we traveled to China. October 8, 2006 was a long day. We were up early and had to wait until afternoon to meet Kianna. We were ushered into a room and waited. We could hear the babies arrived, but it seemed like forever until the director and nannies walked in. Gong Gua Xiu was the most beautiful sight.
She just looked around. The nannie told her to go to Mama and she started to cry. I held her, gave her some cherios and eventually she stopped. After some paper work we headed back to our hotel.
Caeli sat on the floor and played with her. She warmed up to the all of us and enjoyed the toys we brought and bubbles.
I loved holding her and feeding her.
We gave her a teddy bear. (She still has the bear in her room) The bib on the bear had been embroidered with her name and date. Caeli put the bib on Kianna and it is one of our favorite pictures.
Our time in China was wonderful. Kianna slowly warmed up to us and by the end of the trip was smiling.
We flew home on Tuesday, October 17th.
When we landed in LA Kianna became an American citizen.
Kianna has grown into an amazing young lady. She is smart, sweet, kind, caring, talented, and strong-willed. She adds so much joy to our lives and I love her very much.

Happy Gotcha Day Sweetie!
