MARIAH'S 13TH BIRTHDAY... On Saturday Mariah invited three of her friends to go to a local resort for the night. We arrived a little after 2:30. Vicki and Bryan had decorated the room of the Casita and the girls were thrilled.

Mariah open her gifts.

They played with balloons and explored the room before changing into their swim suits.

While the older girls went off exploring we took Caeli and Kianna to the pool. Kianna could not get water in her, so she played on the steps and never complained. Caeli is so good with her. She would give her rides around the pool and keep her head out of the water.

Mariah and her friends took off to the Lazy River.

The loved floating around.

Caeli gave her sister rides in the float.

We went back for Pizza and cake.

Aunt Pam made a dolphin cake for Mariah.

Aunt Jodi took Kianna back to their room. She was happy to watch a movie on her DVD player.

The girls loved going into the various pools at the resort.

Caeli was happy to be included! Caeli went back and joined Kianna in a room with her aunts. The older girls stayed up until after 2.

While Mariah and her friends slept late, Caeli and Kianna went back to the pool the next morning.

The weather was perfect and it was so relaxing to be by the pool.

Pam and Caeli went on the Lazy River and slides. We played until almost 1 and then headed home. After Mariah's friends went home we relaxed and then went out to dinner.

Happy Birthday my sweet Mariah, I can't believe you are a teenager!

KIANNA... In July Kianna went to her pediatrician for her yearly well-check. While examining her the doctor noticed that she had a hole in her eardrum. She sent her to an ENT specialist who ordered a CAT scan. It was determined that she had a blockage in her ear and a 40% hearing loss in her left ear.

So yesterday morning we headed to the hospital and checked into the out-patient surgical center at 5:30. Kianna played in the waiting room until she was called back to pre-op. She was scared and quite aware of what was going on. (It really was easier when she was 2 and didn't understand). The surgery lasted almost 2 1/2 hours and the doctor removed a cystoma covering one end of her ear drum and the mastoid was blocking the other end. He repaired the hole in the eardrum and put a tube into her other ear.

We were back home a little after noon and Kianna slept most of the day. Her equilibrium was off and she complained that her head hurt. She has to take it easy for the next 10 days, but hopefully she will have no more problems.
