HAPPY HALLOWEEN.... The girls loved Halloween! Mariah was Dorothy, Caeline was a Sweetheart Bat and Kianna was a witch. We picked the girls up after school and went to the care facility where my mother lives. The girls went to all the cottages to show off their costumes and everyone gave them candy (like they needed more after school parties). We hurried home and friends came over. We had a quick pizza party and got ready to Trick-or-treat. This was Lylie's (Mariah's niece) first Halloween. She was a pumpkin. The girls had so much fun. Kianna loved going from house to house. She really didn't understand what was going on last year, but definitely got into this year. The girls came home with bag of goodies and everyone had a great time.

KIANNA... is thriving since she came home from the hospital. She is happy and playing with all her toys. I am staying home with her this week and we are enjoying our time together. She went back to her pediatrician this afternoon and she was pleased with her progress. She hasn't lost any weight and is healing nicely. Yeah!

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES.... The doctor came in to see Kianna this morning and let her start eating. With food she came alive. She ate all her breakfast and then had a bowel movement. The doctors were thrilled and even let her come home this afternoon. She (and Mommy) are thrilled to be home. Aunt Pam and Aunt Jodi gave us a break and kept Mariah and Caeline for the night, so we can sleep in tomorrow morning. They have been so wonderful all week and I can't wait to all be home together.

SATURDAY... Kianna had a rough morning. She fussed for hours and there was no way to console her. They finally gave her pain medicine. She is hurting and was very MAD that she wasn't allowed food or drinks. The doctor finally started her on Gatorade and she was much happier. Friends came to vist and she loved having all the girls play with her and go on walks.

FRIDAY... Kianna is feeling a little better today. She is still very mad that we will not let her eat or drink anything. She is keeping busy playing in the playroom, painting, working on a sticker book and watching Mickey Mouse & Strawberry Shortcake DVD's.

THURSDAY... Kianna had a hard day. She is not a happy little girl. She is mad that she hurts and very mad that she is not allowed to eat or drink anything for at least three days. This morning she refused to walk, blow bubbles or do anything that we asked her to. She finally let me take her for a walk in the wagon and fell asleep. She wasn't in a better mood when she woke up. They finally gave her more medicine for pain and she slept a few hours. Her sisters arrived just as she woke up and she was so happy to see them. They got her to blow bubbles (to keep her lungs clear) and she walked to the playroom with them. Mariah and Caeli are so good with her and she adores them. Oh, she would not let anyone take any pictures today.

SURGERY OVER....Kianna went up to surgery a little after 7 this morning. As she get older she is understanding more and was not happy to be in the pre-op area. She left us crying, but quickly went to sleep. The doctor examined her and came out to let me know that the rectal area was healed. They proceeded with the reversal of the colostomy. The surgery was completed and she was in recovery by 10:30. She is now back in her room and sleeping. She is in pain, but hopefully on the road to recovery.

KIANNA.... was admitted into the hospital at noon. She had an IV started and they began antibiotics. She is going through irrigation treatments and is in good spirits. I brought a DVD player and she loves being in charge of what she watches. Mickey Mouse is the favorite right now. Mariah and Caeline had pictures at school today and dance classes tonight. They are spending the night at Vicki's and will go to school in the morning. Surgery is scheduled for 8:30 tomorrow morning.

A YEAR AGO TODAY... we returned to the United States and Kianna became a citizen. I am amazed at all that has happened in the last year. Kianna went back to her doctor for a check-up and he has scheduled a surgical exam for next week. She will enter Banner Thunderbird Hospital on Tuesday (10/23)and they will operate Wednesday morning (10/24). If her doctor determines that she has healed they will reverse the colostomy at that time. Pray that this will be the last operation that she has to have and it will be the end of her medical problems.

ONE YEAR AGO TODAY...we were in Nanning, China and Kianna joined our family. It has been a fun, wild, crazy year and I would do it all over again. (well most of it). Kianna has grown so this year. She is a spirited, loving caring child who adds so much to our lives. What a difference a year has made. When Kianna joined us she was quiet, shy and so scared. Now, she talks all the time, runs jumps and dances with her sisters and has no signs of being shy. It has been a hard year for her with all her medical problems, but we hope that this will be over soon. Happy Anniversary Kianna! I love you!
