RECOVERING ...We were up early and found out that they were able to move Kianna's surgery up. At 9:00 she was wheeled into the operating room. It seemed like forever before the Doctor came out to tell me that the surgery was over and she was fine. She returned to her room quickly. She was in some pain and the medicine made her sleep most of the day. She needs to be on IV antibiotics for 72 hours to prevent infection, so we will stay in the hospital until Saturday. Kianna woke up late this afternoon and played some tonight and had a liquid diet of broth, jello and juice.

IN HOSPITAL.. Kianna and I entered the Banner Thunderbird Hospital this afternoon. We are in a room that has a couch that makes into a bed for Mom. I was served dinner, but Kianna is on a liquid diet and had to settle for jello and an ice pop. She kept looking at my salad and I felt terrible. Kianna is in a great mood and so far, has undergone 3 irrigation treatments and had an IV hooked up. She is such a good sport and misses her sisters. Her surgery is scheduled for 10:30 tomorrow morning.

KIANNA... When I decided to adopt a third daughter, I chose to adopt a special needs child. Kianna was born with a small congenitial perineal fistula. A fistula is a tube like opening. After we arrived home from China, Kianna saw many pediatric doctors. In January, she underwent a surgical procedure that determined the fistula was attached to Kianna's rectum.
On Tuesday, February 20th, Kianna will be admitted to Banner Thunderbird Hospital. The next morning they will "plug and seal" the fistula. The surgery itself is not complicated, the dangers are rejection and infection. Kianna should be in the hospital a few days. Once Kianna recovers this should never affect her again.

HARD ROCK INVITATIONAL... The week started with Caeline getting sick. She missed two days of school with a high fever(105) and pneumonia. She is feeling better and was able to perform with her dance company.

Every year AZ Sunrays hosts a gymnastic meet at the Civic Center, with gymnasts from all over the country. Between sessions their dance company performed and both Mariah and Caeline had a fabulous time. They got to be on the floor with all the gymnasts and enjoyed every minute.

When it was over we walked a few blocks and joined friends at Heritage Square. Families With children From china was celebrating the Chinese New Year. It was a fun day!
