ZOO LIGHTS... One of our favorite holiday events is ZooLights at the Phoenix Zoo. Each evening there are over 2.5 million lights twinkling around the zoo. They have animated lights of many different zoo animals. The girls favorite was 20 penguins playing (one was riding a skateboard). We also liked the jumping frogs, elephants spraying water and the monkeys swinging in the trees. Mariah and Caeline got to touch Stingray in a new exhibit that recently opened. It was cold out and fun to drink hot chocolate, and walk around listening to Christmas music. Kianna rode in her stroller and loved all the lights.

CHRISTMAS FUN... Last evening we went to McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. The girls loved all the characters walking around. They got to see Pooh Bear, Blues Clues, Buzz & Woody, Cookie Monster, Elmo and Sponge Bob. Kianna was scared and didn't want her picture taken with the characters, but loved sticking her head in cutouts and laughing. We all rode the train around the park. There are hundreds of thousands of lights and it is so beautiful. They also went on the carousel. They got to ride on horses behind Pooh and Cookie Monster. Blues Clues took a nap on the bench behind them and Mariah had to wake him up to get off the ride. They girls had so much fun!

SANTA BABY... Kianna is enjoying Christmas so much. She is learning new English words every day. She understands that her doll is a "baby" and I call her "my baby". She has definitely figured out who Santa is! The other night she spotted a Santa hat and put it on. She smiled the biggest smile and said "Santa Baby" and laughed and laughed. We love her so much and she is so much fun.

OUR CHRISTMAS PARTY... We had our annual Christmas party last night. 38 Children (and 33 adults) were thrilled when Santa arrived. Everyone opened gifts, sang songs and played. It is my favorite party of the year. Kianna loved it all. She had been afraid of Santa in the Mall, but went up to get her gift (with Mariah) and loved running all over. She ate everything she could get her hands on and was exhausted when it ended.
DANCE COMPANY... Mariah and Caeline love being in dance company. They performed in a show at a local nursing home on Saturday. They were great! The PEARLS, Caeline's group performed "HEY MIKEY' and the RUBIES, Mariah's group performed "ONE WAY OR ANOTHER'. They both had so much fun.

FLAT STANLEY RETURNS.. Caeline's Kindergarten class read a book a few weeks ago called "Flat Stanley". It was about a flat boy who travels all over the world. Each child created their own Flat Stanley and sent it to someone to visit. Caeline was so excited when Flat Stanley arrived back at her school this week. He had visited Cousin Laura in San Jose. He had a wonderful time spending Thanksgiving at her house. She sent back pictures that all Caeline's friends got to see. Caeline was so excited when she came home and told us. Thank you Laura!

ONE MONTH... One month ago today Kianna joined our family. In some ways, that month has flown by, and in other ways it feels like she's been with us her whole life. She has brought such joy to our family! We can't help but laugh when she's around. My love for her just keeps growing. I think Kianna loves her new life. she delights in learning new things and loves the world around her. We all adore her and are learning from her.

HALLOWEEN... Kianna's 1st Halloween was wonderful. I was happy that she wore her costume. She only went to a few houses, but loved the lollipop that she got. She had fun going around with her sisters. Kianna was a fairy, Mariah was a pirate and Caeline was Mulan. We have huge bowls of candy at our house and lots of fun memories.

Mariah and Caeline are back in school and happy to see all of their friends and teachers again. Kianna has been to the doctor (thankfully she is healthy) and has had her first company. Our cousin Mari and her daughter Laura came for a wedding and we had such a nice visit with them.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 16TH... We finished packing, got the last few items at the shops. We walked through a park next to the hotel. The girls had fun posing with all the statues. We ate lunch at Lucy's. At 2:30 we met in the lobby and boarded bused to the American Consulate. No cameras are allowed, so we have no photos. It was an emotional moment when all the parents (there were about 50 babies) are take the oath that all the information given during the adoption process was true. As soon as we got back to the hotel we collected out luggage and headed to the airport. At 9:00 we boarded a plane back to the United States. The flight was a little of 12 hours. Everyone was exhausted. Kianna did really well, but had a hard time sleeping, she wanted to lie down. We landed in Los Angeles at 6:30. Our first stop was immigration. As soon as they stamped Kianna's paperwork, she became a US citizen. We were all glad when our plane arrived in Phoenix. Vicki, Bryan, Brandon and Sophia met us at the airport. When we drove up to the house they had signs in front. IT'S A GIRL!. We are so glad to be home!
